Equipment

  • V60 dripper
  • Paper filter
  • Kettle (preferably with a gooseneck)
  • Scale
  • Cup or carafe

Ingredients

  • 15 g Luwak coffee
  • 250 g filtered water

Instructions

  • Start by measuring 15g of Luwak coffee. Grind it to a medium consistency. Next, measure 250g of filtered water. Heat the water to 200°F (93°C). This temperature is ideal for brewing.
Now, rinse the paper filter with hot water. This step removes any paper taste. Discard the rinse water. Place the filter in the V60 dripper. Position the dripper on your cup or carafe. Make sure everything is ready for brewing.
  • With the filter in place, it’s time to add the coffee. Pour the ground Luwak coffee into the filter. Level the grounds for an even brew. This helps the water flow uniformly through the coffee.
Next, bloom the coffee. This step releases carbon dioxide and enhances flavor. Pour 30g of hot water in a spiral motion over the grounds. Let it sit for 30–40 seconds. You will see bubbles forming as the coffee blooms.
  • Now it’s time for the main pour. Slowly pour the remaining water in circular motions. Start from the center and move outward. This ensures all grounds get equal attention.
Maintain a steady pour. The total amount of water should be 250g. This process should take about 2:30 to 3:00 minutes. Watch the coffee drip through completely.
  • Your Luwak coffee is ready to be served. Swirl the cup gently. This enhances the aroma and flavor. Take a moment to appreciate the rich color.

Notes

Use water just off the boil (around 200°F / 93°C) and aim for a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio. Pour slowly and evenly to allow the unique flavors to bloom. Let the coffee steep or drip fully, then enjoy its smooth, earthy profile with hints of chocolate and spice—no sugar or cream needed.
